WCGN Spotlight Awards Celebrating Community Transformation
Our member organizations are practicing high impact transformational grantmaking all over the country. The Women’s Collective Giving Grantmakers Network wants to celebrate those efforts. Highlighting some of our members’ transformational grantmaking is a vital way for us to demonstrate the change making that is a result of investments in our community nonprofits.
You are invited to nominate a grant that has transformed your grantmaking organization, a grantee’s organization, and/or your community. Up to three grants will be recognized with a Spotlight Award at a presentation during the 2018 WCGN conference in Philadelphia. The awards ceremony will include a description of both the WCGN member organization and the grant. The organization will be recognized with a special memento and highlighted for their excellence in grantmaking.
In addition, all nominees will be considered for publication in WCGN’s monthly newsletter throughout the coming year. View past Awardees!
Process for Nomination:
To be considered:
1. Please describe the grant, including the way in which you believe it was transformational in 750 words or less. If you have visuals (videos, photos, etc.) to demonstrate, please include with the application. Attach all documents in one email.
2. A copy of your organization’s most recent WCGN profile will be reviewed with your application. Please make sure your organization’s profile is up-to-date by reviewing our data on file at http://www.wcgn-network.org/Organizationalprofiles. (After logging into the WCGN member portal, follow the instructions to update as needed.)
Submissions should be sent to: email@example.com
The deadline for submission is May 31, 2018.
A panel of five evaluators, three from the conference host, Impact100 Philadelphia, and two from WCGN’s Board, review all submissions and choose up to three awardees that will be spotlighted at the awards ceremony.
Can a Spotlight awardee submit a nomination at the next conference?
No, the organization is not eligible at the next conference, but may apply at the one(s) following.
Can a WCGN member organization submit the same project more than once?
Yes, the member organization may re-submit the same (non-awarded) project to be reviewed by the Spotlight Review Committee.
What are the benefits to my organization of submitting a Spotlight application?
In addition to being highlighted in your own organization , your transformational grant and your organization will be considered for future WCGN communications including: newsletter, website and social media. These communications provide a unique opportunity to elevate the marketing of your organization to a national platform.
Are there any expectations of my organization if it’s recognized as a Spotlight Awardee?
Your grant is an excellent example to other WCGN members what a transformational grant can look like, as well as showcasing how this type of work might be replicated in other cities. For these reasons, we ask you to work with the WCGN Program Committee to present the transformational aspects of this grant during one of our future webinars. Also, in order to receive the award, the WCGN Member Organization must have someone present at the conference to accept the award.
