2. When are dues for returning member organizations renewed?
Dues must be paid in full by June 15. The Catalist Treasurer may grant an extension until September 15. Requests for extensions must be made by email to our Treasurer by May 15. Member organizations should plan to pay dues for 2019-2020 by June 15, 2019.
Dues invoices are emailed around April 30 and are due by June 15 for the upcoming year. Catalist's fiscal year is July 1-June 30. Instructions for renewals are here.
If my organization joins off cycle (memberships begin July 1) will our dues be prorated?
Our membership year is July 1 - June 30. We only prorate dues for Emerging Memberships (read policy here).
New members joining anytime between between July 1 and April 15 pay $200 for the current year, and renew as noted above.
New members joining between April 15 and June 30 pay $200 dues to cover the upcoming fiscal year beginning July 1, but membership benefits are extended immediately following full payment. In effect, joining April 15 provides 14.5 months of membership before the next renewal.
Dues payments must be made online via AffiniPay, our online payment processing system. Your invoice contains a link with secure access to pay via credit/debit card. This invoice can be forwarded, as anyone with the link is able to securely pay online. We are unable to accept checks for membership dues.
If an individual pays dues on behalf of her organization, then the dues can be considered a donation and are eligible for a tax deduction to the extent of IRS guidelines. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $250 or more per IRS guidelines.
Matching funds will not be considered as a contribution toward dues. However, dues paid by an individual may be matched by an employer and the match will be considered as an unrestricted operating donation to Catalist. Donations toward operating costs are greatly appreciated! Contact us if you need information for your company's matching form.*Please note that the IRS ignores apostrophes so we are filed under "Womens Collective Giving Grantmakers Network" and our virtual organization is incorporated in Charlotte, NC. We are in the process of notifying the IRS of our name change to Catalist and donors may still find us under our former name as defined above.
Dues pay for Catalist's modest operating expenses, such as website and communications fees, webinars, and conference support.
In addition to Affiliate dues, we annually pursue additional revenue through corporate sponsorships and many companies have generously supported conferences. Our board members make annual gifts and we gratefully accept donations.10. If a host organization, like a Community Foundation, has more than one giving group in its portfolio, can they pay for one Catalist membership and include all of their collective giving groups?
Catalist has a modest budget which is larger in conference years. Our Board of Directors operates as both a working board and a governance board and organizational operations are supported entirely by their volunteer efforts and one part-time administrator.
No. While a Community Foundation, or other fiscal sponsor or host, may have paid for an organization's Catalist membership, this dues payment funds only one group. The membership belongs to the organization which is identified in the applicant's profile at the onset, not the payee, and there is no option to add a second group.
If additional groups affiliated with this host want to join Catalist, we would be happy to talk to them about membership.
